80s Trivia: Who hosted Double Dare?

Let's head back to everyone's favorite decade, the 80s, for the Friday question.  I loved Nickelodeon as a kid.  I mean, what kid that grew up in the 80s and had a TV didn't?  Finders Keepers was always my favorite - anyone?  Anyone?  Buehler?

Alright, well, moving right along.  One of the more popular shows on Nick during the 80s was Double Dare - so popular, in fact, that they brought it back over a decade after they originally took it off the air.  So, from our Pocket Trivia: 80s Trivia game: Who hosted Double Dare?  Was it Summer Sanders, Moira Quirk, Kirk Fogg or Mark Summers?

All had something to do with Nickelodeon game shows, you couldn't really go TOO wrong here.  Summer Sanders was a former Olympic athlete who hosted Figure It Out on Nick - but not Double Dare. Moira Quirk was everyone favorite British referee from Guts (CLIMB THE AGGROCRAG!) - but again, not Double Dare.  Kirk Fogg was best known for his relationship with Ole Mec and the Silver Monkeys as the host of Legends of the Hidden Temple - the Nick show that was so cheap, they actually gave away pieces of the set as prizes.

So, that leaves us with the correct answer: perennial Nick game show host Marc Summers.  Summers hosted many shows, including Double Dare (and its many variations), Figure It Out? and Couch Potatoes.

Double Dare was a shown known for its slop and slime (Super Sloppy Double Dare was one of the versions of the show aired).  It is thus particularly ironic, and painful, to note that Summers actually suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (if you watch the show, you see he always tries to avoid getting touched with the various forms of goop that are oh so prevalent).  Personally, I think it's inspiring. If someone with OCD can host a show like Double Dare, what can't any of us do?
