This is a big deal for us, and to their infinite credit, the folks at Enter.Net made SERIOUS improvements to the two versions. The games now have lifelines, connection to OpenFeint (allowing for a leaderboard and achievements), enhanced graphics, sound effects and a smoother user interface. It is a marked improvement on the previous game.
So, we've submitted the game to as many iPhone reviewers as we can find (but are always looking for more!) and sent the press release to local media as well. I know we'll get at lease one story out of it, so that will be nice.
Now we wait! The press release (with links added) is after the jump.
New iPhone App Developer launches two U.S. History iPhone Apps
Pocket Protector Games created by Lehigh Valley tech guru and powered by Enter.net
Allentown, PA (September 19): Pocket Protector Games, an iPhone Application company dedicated to creating fun trivia games, has launched with two new products.
Two games have been launched by Pocket Protector Trivia so far. These games are available in the Apple store for the iPhone, iTouch or iPad. The games are:
- Pocket Trivia: US History, which has 250 questions about U.S. History (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pocket-trivia-us-history/id386310949?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4), or by searching the iTunes Store for “Pocket Trivia: U.S. History”
- Pocket Trivia: US Presidents, which has 250 questions related to U.S. Presidents (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pocket-trivia-us-presidents/id386985073?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4), or by searching the iTunes Store for “Pocket Trivia: US Presidents”
From a technical perspective, both games boast:
- 15 questions per round. Scores are dependent on how long the player takes to choose an answer.
- Three “lifelines” that eliminate two wrong options, leaving one wrong and one right answer.
- Score sharing on a world-wide leader-board that is connected to OpenFeint, giving players the ability to compete with others all over the world.
- Sound effects and graphics between each question.
Pocket Protector Games also has an active presence on Social Media:
- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pocketprotectorgames
- Twitter: http://twitter.com/pocketprotectorgames
- Blog: http://pocketprotectorgames.blogspot.com
Reviews of either game are welcome. Promotional Codes, screen shots and other materials is available on request.
The President of the company is Mike Schlossberg. Schlossberg, 27, is no stranger to business and technology. In his full-time position, he works as the Assistant Vice President of Technical & Community Management for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. In that capacity, Schlossberg works with small businesses and to help them take advantage of Social Networking and mobile technology.
“I first became interested in this area after helping others succeed and make money in Social Media and mobile technology,” said Schlossberg. “I can think of countless small businesses that have iPhone Apps of their own – these days, it seems like everyone has an iPhone App, or is at least in the process of getting one. Eventually, I began to think, ‘Why not me?’ This is an area that is facing explosive growth, and I think it presents a real opportunity for any entrepreneur.”
Schlossberg noted that the plan for now is to stick with U.S. History Games, but to branch out into other topics later. “You always start with what you know. I’ll freely admit that I am a big U.S. History buff and history is something I have a passion for. Later, we’re definitely going to look at getting into other subjects like entertainment, sports and pop culture.”
The games were programmed and designed by Enter.Net. “I first met Enter.net in the course of my job with The Chamber. Their expertise is second to none and I was very impressed by their capabilities,” said Schlossberg.
Schlossberg expressed his confidence that this will be a long-term venture. “Technology and small business are both passions of mine, and I feel privileged to have an opportunity to engage in another venture that I love. I’m in this for the long-haul and can’t wait to see where this will take me.”
